If it is working to open in Vivaldi Thunderbird has caused the failure most probably. I do appreciate that this is more likely to be an issue with Thunderbird or Windows 10 rather than Vivaldi but seeing as this has proved an ongoing issue and when I originally reported it, it seemed to be just an issue with Vivaldi, I thought it still useful to post full details of the circumstances as I learn of said in Links in emails within Thunderbird no longer open in default browser One idea: Put a valide link into any document (word, pdf, txt) and make it active, so clicking on it would open the link in browser.

Given the extensive conversation on this already, I am fairly certain that the issue lies between Thunderbird immediately post-update and the browser which is not set correctly until the browser is subsequently restarted. The only thing that would have been done in that time is Vivaldi was shut down and re-launched. I can report though, that the links in emails started working again when clicking on them earlier on. My post earlier was just to provide an update as I said I would earlier in this thread next time this happened again.Īs stated earlier in this thread (and in other threads), when this happens, the default apps in Windows 10 remains untouched and is not the problem and the protocol handlers in Thunderbird are also all correct and not the problem. To the recent commenters, this has been an ongoing issue that I have raised in the forum a few times. So if anyone else experiences this (I'm guessing with any email client or browser), double check that no apps/programs have any updates to install. Weird as hell and very annoying that this keeps happening but make of that what you will. Even though the issue affected any browser! Ran the update, restarted Vivaldi and straight away, links from Thunderbird started working again fine. I manually checked for updates in Vivaldi (as the system tray did not indicate that there was any update available) and it did show an update. I remember that I fixed this before, but couldn't really recall how (hence this update). I checked all the config in Thunderbird and it was all correct (as always) and no issues with default browser settings / file types etc. The issue was not specific to Vivaldi though, I changed the default browser to Mozilla Firefox and the links in emails still did not open in browser. Had a power outage yesterday, booted back up into Windows 10 and no links in Mozilla Thunderbird were working at all. Just an update on this - as it happened again this morning.
